Arches & garlands · Kansas City metro

The wall everyone stands in front of.

Organic garlands, hoop arches and full spans, built in your colors and installed at your venue. This is the piece that ends up in every photo from the night, which is why it is the one most people book first.

Why the backdrop matters more than the rest

Guests take one kind of photo at a party: someone standing in front of something. If there is nothing worth standing in front of, they take it against a blank wall and the pictures all look like a Tuesday.

A garland fixes that for less money than almost anything else you can do to a room, because it only has to be excellent in one place.

Three ways to build it

The words get used loosely online, so here is what each one actually means when we quote it.

Organic garland

Balloons in mixed sizes clustered along a line, uneven on purpose. It follows whatever it is attached to: a wall, a doorframe, the front edge of a dessert table, a stair rail. This is the most flexible option and the one that adapts best to an awkward room.

Hoop arch

The same garland built onto a circular frame so it stands on its own in the middle of a floor. The exposed part of the ring is doing as much design work as the balloons, which is why a hoop arch reads as more formal than a garland even when the colors are identical.

Structured arch

A full span over an entrance or a walkway. Structured arches take more balloons and more time than the other two, and they need a spot with enough clearance overhead. When there is room for one, it is the piece that makes people stop at the door.

What a garland install actually involves

01

Sizing to the spot, not to a package

A photo of the wall with a chair or a door in frame tells us the scale. Most dessert table garlands run six to eight feet. Photo walls start at eight and go up from there.

02

Matching the palette

Latex comes in fixed shades, so we match to your swatch and tell you honestly when a color does not exist. Specific shades sometimes need ordering, which is the main reason for booking lead time.

03

Mounting without damage

Removable adhesive hooks or a freestanding frame, depending on the venue's rules and the wall surface. Nothing gets nailed, drilled or left behind.

04

Building on site

Garlands are assembled at the venue rather than transported whole, because a finished eight foot garland does not fit through a normal door without losing its shape.

Set up the day before

Air-filled garlands and arches hold their shape for days indoors, so if your venue gives access the night before, we will take it. That removes the install from your event morning entirely.

What changes the price

There is no fixed rate for a garland because the same eight feet can be two very different jobs. Four things move the number:

  • Length and density. A longer run takes more balloons, and a full, tight garland takes noticeably more than a light one of the same length.
  • Special elements. Foil shapes, oversized balloons, printed backdrops and themed characters add cost on top of the base build.
  • Where it mounts. A standard wall is quick. A frame build, a ceiling anchor or anything needing a ladder for the full install takes longer.
  • Timing. Installs that have to happen inside a narrow venue window, or very early, are harder to schedule than flexible ones.

Send the details and you get one number covering design, balloons, delivery, install and takedown. Nothing gets added afterward.

Good places to put one

Behind the dessert or cake table, so the food and the backdrop photograph together. Around a doorway, so the party starts before people are all the way in. Down a stair rail, which turns an unused feature into the best angle in the house.

The one place a garland struggles is a wall people walk past rather than stand at. If nobody stops there, it will not earn its place.

Common questions

What is the difference between a garland and an arch?

A garland is a loose cluster of balloons that follows a line: along a wall, over a doorway, down the front of a table. An arch is a garland built onto a frame so it holds a shape on its own, usually a circle for a hoop arch or a span for a full arch. Garlands are more flexible about where they go. Arches stand up in the middle of a room.

How big should my garland be?

It depends what it is behind. A dessert table usually wants six to eight feet so the garland reads as a backdrop rather than a decoration. A doorway wants whatever the doorway is. A full photo wall runs eight feet and up. Send a photo of the spot with something in frame for scale, like a chair, and we will size it for you.

Can a garland go on a wall I cannot put holes in?

Yes. Most installs use removable adhesive hooks or a freestanding frame rather than anything permanent. Rented halls, community rooms and offices almost always fall into this category, and it changes the build, not the look. Tell us the venue's rules when you send the details and we will design around them.

Will you match an exact color?

We match as closely as balloon stock allows, and we are honest when a color does not exist. Latex comes in fixed shades, so a very specific brand color sometimes lands one step warmer or cooler than the swatch. If the color is critical, send the swatch early so we can order rather than substitute.

Can a garland go outside?

Outdoors is possible but it changes the plan. Direct sun heats latex and pops it, wind pulls at anything not anchored, and cold shrinks balloons until they warm back up. Shaded, sheltered spots like a covered porch or a north-facing entrance hold up best. We will tell you honestly if the spot you have in mind is a bad idea.

Pairs well with

Columns and towers

A pair at the entrance and a garland at the back wall covers both ends of a room without overspending on the middle.

Centerpieces

Carry the same palette onto the tables so the room reads as one design rather than one good wall.

Specialty and custom

Add an oversized number or a themed sculpture beside the arch for a milestone birthday.

The gallery

More finished garlands and arches across birthdays, showers, holidays and business openings.

Send a photo of the wall. We will size it.

Tell us the date, the spot and the colors you have in mind. A design idea and a price come back inside 24 to 48 hours, with delivery, install and takedown already in the number.
